Crop Circles Enigma and Phenomena

For over a decade Crop Circle Secrets has led the way in helping the public make an informed decision on the true origin of crop circles. Its factual research provides an antidote to deliberate falsification of the genuine phenomenon by skeptics, hoaxers and their allies in the media.

Crop circles are scientifically proven to be manifestations of energy under intelligent guidance. Over 80 eyewitnesses describe them to be made by tubes of light in less than fifteen seconds. The evidence for crop circles as a genuine phenomenon is found in Freddy Silva's book Secrets In The Fields and throughout this site.

Contrary to popular perception, crop circles are not a modern phenomenon. They were witnessed by policemen and farmers as far back as 1890, they exist in the folklore of South Africa and China, and are mentioned in 17th Century academic texts. Around 1980 they re-appeared as simple circles and rings in southern England, where 75% of designs are reported. By the late 1980s they developed into pictograms, not unlike the petroglyphs found at sacred sites. After 1990 the designs developed exponentially in complexity, and today the crop circles display as fractals and elements expressing fourth dimensional processes in quantum physics.

To quell the public’s growing interest in crop circles, the British Secret Service MI5 presented two individuals named Doug and Dave to the media, via a fictitious press agency, as the makers of all crop circles. The majority of their claims were later proved to have been fabricated but never reported in the media. So, what exactly lies behind real crop circles?

In genuine formations the stems are not broken but bent and swirled; they are subjected to a short and intense burst of heat that softens the stems to hover just above the ground, where they re-harden without damage. Research suggests that infrasound is producing such an effect. It has also been scientifically proven that soil samples taken from within crop circles show changes in its crystalline structure and mineral composition. Expert analysis concludes that heat of 1500ºC would create such a change. These are hardly the kind of anomalies created by pranksters with planks!

Crop circles also show evidence of ultrasound, and such frequencies are known to exist at ancient sacred sites such as stone circles and pyramids. And like all temples, crop circles appear at the intersecting points of the Earth's magnetic pathways of energy. Consequently, it is not unusual for people to experience heightened states of awareness and healings in crop circles – a situation also common to sacred sites and ancient temples. Biophysical evidence shows the plants' seed embryos are altered, and the liquid in the stems has been heated from the inside. In genuine crop circles there is also a reorganization of the plant's crystalline structure. Other evidence from crop circles shows how the floors of laid plants are swirled in mathematical proportions relative to the Golden Ratio – the vortex used by nature to create organisms. Mathematically, genuine crop circles have yielded five new geometric theorems based on Euclidian geometry. They are also encoded with sacred geometry – those harmonic ratios that govern the relationship between the orbits of planets. Crop circles alter the local electromagnetic field; affecting the proper function of compasses, cameras and cellular phones; the frequencies are also known to affect aircraft equipment.

In 1999, researcher Colin Andrews received funding from Laurence Rockefeller to conduct a two-year investigation into crop circles. His team concluded that 80% of all crop formations that appeared in England throughout 1999 and 2000 were unquestionably man-made and instigated by business and media interests. However the team could not account for the nature of the remaining 20%, which were termed "genuine". Andrews stated that he had encountered such "unexplainable" patterns 20 years earlier.

Since the early 1990s the UK arts collective founded by artist John Lundberg, named the Circlemakers, have been creating some crop circles in the UK and around the world both as part of their art practice and for commercial clients.

On the night of July 11–12, 1992, a crop-circle making competition, for a prize of several thousand UK pounds (partly funded by the Arthur Koestler Foundation), was held in Berkshire. The winning entry was produced by three Westland Helicopters engineers, using rope, PVC pipe, a trestle and a ladder. Another competitor used a small garden roller, a plank and some rope.

More scientists proved that the crop formations they examined could not possibly have been made by man. One of them is Dutch physicist Dr. Eltjo Haselhoff (chairman of the DCCCS (Dutch Centre for Crop Circle Studies, our Dutch crop circle research group). For more information about their studies, see "What is the scientific opinion about crop circles?"

Strangely enough, there are still people out there who claim to be making crop circles. What's more, they not only claim small circles, but huge, complex formations as well. This is indeed a remarkable situation, since science denies them completely. Over the course of years, I talked with these men many times, sometimes informally, sometimes I interviewed them. A couple of things caught my attention.

First of all I met the first man who claimed to have made crop circles on a truly large scale: Doug Bower. Together with David Chorley (who died several years ago) he claimed in 1991 in the national press to have made hundreds of crop formations. They said to have had only one goal: to kid the world... In front of the camera they showed how they made a circle: by means of a board and some ropes they flattened crop. The result was a messy circle. Compared with the beautiful circles the world had seen so far, this wasn't anything like as good. Unfortunately the reporters didn't ask any critical questions. It was quite obvious that they simply assumed that 'Doug and Dave' (as they entered the world news) were telling the truth...

However, when asked about the scientific data, they had no answer. Furthermore it was weird that these men could leave their homes night after night, without their spouses noticing anything... On several occasions, one of the men claimed a formation, whereas the other one denied having made that particular one. After a while, Doug and Dave started contradicting themselves and each other; they had to change some of their statements. Their story lost total credibility, but the strangest thing was that the world had already fully accepted their claim: crop circles were made by man; they had all been made by two British old men...

Elongated and blown nodes

This is the result of brief, intense heat. The moisture in the plant is turned to steam by this yet unknown energy, that resembles microwave energy. As a result, the moisture expands (steam takes up more space than moisture). If the plant is not ripe yet, the rising pressure can be absorbed by the nodes: the most flexible parts of the plant. These nodes expand and remain forever in the outstreched position. They do not and can not stretch back into their original position. One can often find these elongated nodes in crop formations that appear in the early crop season (April, May, June).

In ripe crop however (in July, August and September) the plants are no longer that flexible. As a result, the plants cannot absorb the pressure of the expanding steam, and the nodes explode like an egg in a microwave oven. The scientific word for exploded nodes is 'expulsion cavities', but in the fields we simply talk about 'blown nodes'...

You will never find elongated and blown nodes in man-made crop circles. They simply cannot be the result of mechanical damage.
